• Dear Parents/guardians,

Under the directive of the Lehighton Area School District Board of Directors, parents/guardians may now opt to sign a mask exception form for their student(s).  All social distancing, cleaning, sanitization, and hand hygiene efforts will continue at the District to ensure the safest possible environment in school, and masks will still be required on buses, as they are governed by federal transportation laws.

With the District’s masking protocol being optional, the number of close contacts will grow.  If your student is identified as a close contact in school, you will be notified via email.  At this point, it will be your decision if you would like your student to quarantine as long as they are not showing signs or symptoms.  An excuse blank or doctor’s note will be required for attendance purposes. If your child is deemed a close contact and you wish for them to quarantine, please note on the excuse blank “Close Contact.”

We ask that you please continue to keep your student home if they are sick.  As always, students who are sick or presenting with symptoms will be evaluated by the school nurse and sent home, if appropriate.

Please be sure to check that your contact information, including email in your student’s Powerschool account is correct, since this will be the information utilized to notify parents via email of any close contact situations.

Thank you for your support as we continue to navigate through this ever-evolving process and we wish you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

    Sincerely,

    Jonathan J. Cleaver
    Superintendent
