Hello Parents and Guardians,

I am excited to be back as Principal of the Lehighton Area Middle School.  I have been employed by the Lehighton Area School District since 2009.  My first eight years in Lehighton I was the Middle School Principal.  Following that, I was an Elementary Principal for East Penn, Franklin and last year I helped open the Lehighton Area Elementary Center.  Throughout my 23 years in public education, I taught science to students in grades 5-12 and most recently served as an Assistant H.S. Principal in the Pocono Mountain School District before coming to Lehighton.

On a personal note, I love to read and am a fitness enthusiast.  I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 23 years and have a son and daughter in 9th and 6th grades, respectively.  My goal is to ensure that every student feels welcomed, is challenged to meet his/her fullest potential, and is excited about coming to school each day!

I look forward to working with you and your family to ensure that this is a year filled with many memorable moments.  Our classrooms provide a warm, caring learning environment that honors the unique characteristics of each child.  My hope is that our collective efforts help each student uncover a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime.

It is my belief that children succeed through the teamwork of parents and educators.  I am excited to work together with you to provide your student with the best learning experience possible and can't wait to get started.

Hello, my name is Stephen Ebbert and I am excited for another school year as the Dean of Students.  You may be wondering, "What is a Dean of Students?"  It will involve dealing with attendance, discipline and most importantly recognizing the positive things that our students do on a daily basis.  My teaching career began in the Lehighton School District as a third grade teacher at Shull David during the 1994-95 school year.  After 10 years of teaching third grade I then moved to the Middle School as a fifth grade Social Studies teacher and later became the Assistant Principal.  After the birth of my two youngest children I decided to return to the classroom to spend more time at home.  Since that time, I have taught 6th grade Geography and also filled in as the High School Assistant Principal for a semester.
I am a veteran of the United States Air Force and attended Lehigh Carbon Community College, after completing my enlistment, earning an Associates Arts Degree.  I then attended Kutztown University and earned a BS in Education.  After several years of teaching, I then attended Wilkes University earning a MS in Education and completed my K-12 Educational Leadership Certificaton.
Lehighton is my home town and, with the exception of my time in the Air Force, I have always resided in the Lehighton School District.  I am the proud father of four wonderful children who keep me young at heart.  Firefighting is an important part of my life and I have over 30 years of service with the Lehighton Fire Department.  My favorite sports teams include the Indianapolis Colts and the Flyers!
It is always exciting to start a new school year with a great staff and fantastic students here at the Middle School!
