Superintendent

  • Mr. John "Jack" Corby is currently serving as Acting Superintendent for the Lehighton Area School District.  Mr. Corby has extensive experience being a school administrator, including but not limited to being an assistant high school principal at Palmerton Area High School; an elementary school principal at Palmerton Area School District; Assistant Superintendent at the Tamaqua Area School District; the Director of Secondary Education Grades 7-12 at the Whitehall-Coplay School District; and from May 2005-November 2016, the Superintendent of Schools at the Whitehall-Coplay School District.

    Mr. Corby served as Acting Superintendent at the Northern Lehigh School District from June 2017-December 2017; the Acting Assistant Superintendent at the Northwestern Lehigh School District from February 2019-June 2019; and the Acting Superintendent at the Northern Lebanon School District from July 2019-October 2019;

    Mr. Corby has been commissioner for the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools for five years and is currently serving as internship coordinator and coach for IU21’s Principal Certification Program;

    The Board believes that Mr. Corby is a natural to assist the District, particularly given his experience, until such time as the District can complete its Superintendent search.
