• Dear Lehighton Community,

I am truly excited to be serving this great community. I am eager to bring my philosophy of child centered decision making to Lehighton Area School District. To share a bit about myself, I am not a native of Pennsylvania but have come to love the state and consider it home. I was born in San Francisco, CA. I lived most of my childhood in Southern California but also lived in American Samoa and New Brunswick, Canada. My father was a long time executive with the Heinz Corporation, so we traveled quite frequently. After graduating from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA, my parents moved to Bloomsburg, PA and I began my college career at Cal State Long Beach for Physical Therapy.

When I changed my major to Special Education, I decided to change my college, opting for Bloomsburg University. I quickly followed my bachelor’s in Special Education with a MS in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. A few years later, I pursued my Special Education Supervisory Certificate from Bloomsburg University. While at the CSIU I held the positions of Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, Educational Consultant and Special Education Supervisor. Following 10 years as a supervisor with CSIU, I left that position to pursue the Director of Special Education at Central Columbia School District. In the 12 years I worked for Central Columbia, I was responsible for special education, 504, gifted education, Title IX, Office of Civil Rights Officer, Homeless Liaison, and Foster Care Liaison and the Guidance Department eventually becoming the Director of Pupil Services. I received my letter of eligibility from Marywood University and I am in the final stages of receiving my doctorate in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley University.

My husband and I live in Danville, PA. We have two lovely children. Our oldest will be a sophomore at Moravian University and our youngest will be a Senior at Danville Area High School this fall. We also have a golden retriever and 2 cats, so we have a busy household. I look forward to working with you and getting to know the lovely community of Lehighton. Future postings will announce community meetings that I will be holding to provide community members with the opportunity to discuss their concerns, hopes and ideas for Lehighton Area School District. I am available via e-mail at as well as by phone at (610) 377-4490 x 1515. You can also schedule individual meetings with me either via videoconference or face to face. Just reach out to my secretary, Janine Partenio, at ext. 1515. I hope to see you at Board Meetings, school events, and community events. Please reach out wherever you see me as this school is your greatest community asset.    Go Indians!!!
