Safe2Say Something

Safe2Say Something, mandated under Pennsylvania Act 44 and implemented in all school districts in January 2019, is a comprehensive program designed to promote school safety and student well-being. The program teaches students and staff how to recognize warning signs and signals—particularly on social media—of individuals who may be at risk of harming themselves or others.

It also empowers individuals to take action by “saying something” to a trusted adult or by using the Safe2Say anonymous reporting system. Through this program, students and staff are encouraged to:

  • Recognize the signs and signals of at-risk behaviors, especially those displayed on social media.
  • Take all warning signs seriously and act quickly by informing a trusted adult or submitting an anonymous report through the Safe2Say system.
  • Support timely and appropriate responses to submitted tips through school-based, multidisciplinary teams of educators and administrators.

How can someone report an anonymous tip through the Safe2Say reporting system? Adults and youth are able to report tips anonymously through the Office of Attorney General’s 24/7 Crisis Center (1-844-SAF2SAY), through a mobile app (apple and android), or through Pennsylvania’s Safe2Say Something website www.safe2saypa.org. Examples that may be reported through Safe2Say include, but are not limited to, information regarding student safety, substance abuse, or potential threats to individuals or to our school facilities.
