    • Superintendent PK-12 Letter of Eligibility AND Possess at least five (5) years of leadership experience as an administrator/organizational leader including an understanding of public education.


    • Alternative Credential accepted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) which is a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance or management AND Possess at least five (5) years of leadership experience as an administrator/organizational leader including an understanding of public education.

    Essential Functions:

    • Lead the district, effectively interacting with all stakeholders, in the development of and commitment to a district vision, focusing on the needs of all students.
    • Provide strong education leadership utilizing a child centered decision-making approach, focusing on both growth and achievement for all students.
    • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, emphasizing transparency, visibility and open dialogue with the Board of Directors, staff, students, parents and community members.
    • Provide strong leadership in school finance, budget development and cost benefit analysis.
    • Demonstrate proactive decision making with the ability to lead, direct and supervise multiple projects and teams within the district.

    Lehighton Area School Community,

    The Lehighton Area School District Board of Directors is currently seeking a Superintendent of Schools.

    The Board of Directors takes most seriously the legal authority it has been granted to appoint the Superintendent of the Lehighton Area School District.  Accordingly, the Board of Directors has designed a selection plan which is currently underway and will continue over the next several weeks.

    The Board of Directors, as the elected body tasked with appointing the next superintendent, is now in the process of gathering additional information as to the skills, attributes or qualities of the next superintendent.

    The Board of Directors is interested in your input regarding the qualities and skills that our next Superintendent should possess. Please use the link below to assist the Board of Directors in identifying the most important criteria for selecting the next Superintendent. The Board of Directors will use the data collected by this survey for consideration in selecting the District’s next Superintendent of Schools.
